The village hall committee would like to apologise to anyone who had tickets for the spring supper last weekend, it was unfortunate that the event had to be cancelled. If you had purchased tickets you will receive your money back. We hope you weren’t too disappointed.

St Bartholomews Church is playing host to a jazz evening tomorrow (Saturday) night. The Clink Jazz Band, tribute to Duke Ellington, will be there to entertain you, on saxaphone, piano, bass guitar and vocals. The fun begins at 7pm. Tickets are £15 each to include a glass of wine and a fork supper available from the Flower House or Ros Cloke on 01435 884312.

The Annual General meeting of the Burwash Jubilee Community fund is being held on Wednesday at the Bear motel at 7.30pm. This is money left over from the Diamond Jubilee fund last year. You are all welcome to go along to give support and make suggestions for the future of the community fund. Where would this money be best used. Would other village parties be the way forward, perhapes to celebrate St George’s Day? Your thoughts and ideas would be welcome. Call Halina Keep for more details.

On Friday June 7, there is to be a fun bridge evening at The paviliion in Burwash Common. Players of all levels of experience are welcome to go along. Partners are not required as you will be changing them throughout the afternoon. The fun begins at 12.30pm with a light lunch, tea/coffee. Cold drinks available at the bar and play will commence at 2pm. Tickets are £10 each available from Anne Gray 01435 882442 or Susana Price 01435 863332. Proceeds will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer Appeal.

The next monthly whist drive will be held on Thursday evening in the Burwash village hall at 7.30pm. This fun evening is great for meeting new people and having and enjoyable game of cards. Entry is £3 per person and includes light refreshments. A raffle is also held. For more details please call me on 882107. We have players from several other villages join us and you don’t have to be the expert to play with us.

This years Open Gardens will be on Sunday June 23. Seversal of the pretty gardens that are behind the houses of the Burwash High Street will be open to the public. More details later. Meanwhile the committee have organised a big raffle with some amazing prizes, that will be drawn on this day. Please ask one of the committee for a book, they are £5 for five tickets. First prize if £100 and all proceeds will go towards the fund for hte new front windows at the hall. Call me on 01435 882107 for connecting with one of the committee.

Weather permitting the Burwash ladies stoolball team will begin their 2013 outdoor season with a home fixture against Little Common. The match begins at 6-45pm at the Swan Meadow playing fields, Burwash. refreshments are available at the end of the match. They will be very pleased to see you there.
