Tonight is quiz night at the pavilion in Burwash Common. These monthly quizzes are great fun and have come along way since their first offering. The fun begins at 8pm when teams of six people are invited to try to solve the questions. Entry money is given out as prizes. The licensed bar will be open.

Tomorrow evening, saturday, the Burwash Common & Weald residents association will be holding a race night. starting at 7.30pm. with the first of eight races at 8pm. Tickets are £4 for members £5 for non-members and include a hotdog supper. The races are sponsored by local businesses. This Sunday is Mothering Sunday and the children of the Church of England will be making posies for St Bartholomew’s Church today in readiness for the family service on sunday morning at 10.am, when they hope that you will go along and join them in celebration of all mothers. The children will be taking part in the service and giving out the posies they have made. Coffee will be served afterwards and a chance to chat. There will also be a service for mothering sunday at St Philip’s church in Burwash Common from 10.30am

Tomorrow evening there is a special talk in St Bartholomew’s Church entitled Burwash to the Holy Land, the 2012 Pilgrimage. This illustrated talk starts at 7pm, tickets are £5 and include a glass of wine and nibbles. They are available at the Flower House in the high Street or from Ros Cloke on 021435 884312.

The Burwash Ladies group will have their March meeting on Wednesday, in the Village Hall at 2.15pm. The members will hear Richard Crook talk about The Development of Eastbourne. Could be an interesting talk. Visitors are always welcome and new members encouraged. The afternoon ends with tea anda raffle.

Burwash & District flower arrangement club will be holding a craft afternoon on Thursday from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. It will be led by Mrs Lynn Carter and is called Chocolate Box. If you wpould like to join them it will cost £10 and you can join in by calling Maureen Jenner on 01435 882045. Next Saturday, 23 March, the children of the Musical Theatre group will be performing Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. They have been rehearsing for many weeks and will stage the show at the Burwash Village hall at 7.30pm. The tickets are £4.50 available from Mary Alderson on 01435 882051 or Jane Coleman on 882687.

Also next Saturday the annual spring clean up of the St Bartholomew’s churchyard will take place. This is a the time to clear away leaves and fallen branches etc. in readiness for Spring and Easter. Many hands make light work, so why not go along and give a hand, take you own equipment, this will help. For more information on what takes place call Ros Cloke on 884312.
