Burwash Common playing fields are holding the annual summer fete & Dog show tomorrow Saturday, in the playing fields on Stonegate Road.

The fun begins at 2pm with miniature agricultural steam engine, fun dog show, children’s races & bouncy castle. Assault course pony rides, tombolas & raffles, coconut shy, panning for gold, barbecue and teas. And of course the competitions for the children i mentioned last week. This is a traditional village fete with music throughout the afternoon. If you have suitable donations for the stalls, cakes, bottles, groceries, plants, books and white elephant, they would be grateful, Items can be left at the field in the morning or ring Karol Richardson on 01435 883318 or Jan McCartney on 882117.

THE Burwash Ladies group will meet on Wednesday afternoon at 2.15pm at the village hall. Their speaker will be Mrs Jenny Clark on Bats. The flying kind or the hitting ones? To find out, why not go along to the hall on wednesday, you will be given a warm welcome. There will also be a produce stall and a collection of items for the soldiers shoe boxes. The afternoon will end with tea.

AN Informative talk will eb given on Wednesday evening by Dr Thomas of the Fairfield surgery at 7.30pm in the Swan Meadow Sports Pavilion. Young and old are invited to hear advice regarding cancer. Prevention, screening, diagnosis and some elements of treatment will be discussed. The talk will be informal and interactive. Most of us are affected by this disease at some point in our lives either personally or as a friend or relative, so what a good idea to hear from a professional the ways to know more.

THE Community weight loss challenge begins again on Tuesday evening at the Parish room of Christ the King Church at 7pm. The last challenge ended with 6 people losing over 6 stone and 72cms. The course costs £39 per person and include weekly confidential weigh-in, six weekly measurements, talks and sharing of advice and experiences.
