Burwash village voice

Tonight the Rude mechanical theatre company return to the village for another of their wonderful unique performances.

The fun begins at 7.30pm at the swan Meadow Playing fields, Burwash. Picnics can be taken along from 6pm. Please bring your own chairs, blankets, wine, glasses etc to enjoy a relaxed event of risque hilarity. Tickets are available from the Burwash news agents or at the field at £13 for adults, £7 for children. Let us hope the weather stays dry and for once it is a warm evening

Also tonight, the monthly general knowledge quiz is being held at the pavilion in Burwash Common. The licensed bar will be open and teams of six are welcome to go along. The first question will be put to you at 8pm.

On Sunday the Burwash cricket team invite you to a twenty/twenty test match at the swan Meadow playing fields. from 10,30am. A licensed bar will be open and barbecue from 12 noon. at 2.30pm the second innings will start and should finish with a thrilling end at 5pm, when victory or loss will be celebrated or sorrows drowned at the Bear Motel for the rest of the evening. There will be lots of fun for the youngsters too, with a bouncy castle etc. All funds raised will go to the Burwash cricket club.

You are all invited to a coffee morning at Pippins,in aid of MacMillan Nurses, for Dementia nursing in the home. Host Margaret swift with the help of Isabel Salmond, hope you will all go along and support this event. It is from 10.30am until 12 noon. There will be a raffle and produce stall for which any donations would be appreciated. Call Margaret on 01435 882970 or Isabel on 882452.

THE Burwash Not So Young Club will have their garden party this week, at the home of Shirley Viney from 2.30pm. Shirley’s lovely garden makes a good back drop for these events and her home is large enough to accommodate should the weather be bad. All members are welcome to attend.

THERE are still a few pitches available to anyone who would like to raise funds for their club or charity at the burwash summer fair on August Bank Holiday Monday, 27th. Steve Mintram tells me that one or two regulars are unable to make it and he is happy to hear from anyone who is interested. Call him on Burwash 882444 for more details and prices. This is always a well supported event with people coming back year after year from many a distant place.
