The auction of promises takes place tonight at the Bear Motel from 7.30pm. They have already been promised some great lots from hair-dos, baby sitting, a round of golf, pub dinner for , car cleaning riding lessons gardening for a day, family photo, and many, many more. The money from the evening will be used to give the village on of the best celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Your support would be very welcome. Any further offers of lots should be given to Eddie Workman or Rod Clifton.

Also tonight it is music night at the pavilion in Burwash Common. Local Talent will be singing a playing for your enjoyment. The fun begins at 8pm. The licensed bar will be open.

The Burwash Monday painters are holding an exhibition of their work tomorrow morning at The Goward Hall, Cade Street, as part of the Cuckoo Fair. There are photos of last years event on the picture gallery on the website www.Heathfield.net see what a great day it was. Paintings will be for sale and you can talk to members about joining their group.

Tomorrow evening you are invited to a St George’s Day Concert in St Bartholomew’s Church. The Hastings ‘Citadel Band will give you an evening of light entertainment. Their programme is described as a mix of classical and contemporary music, with both brass and choral parts. Cheese and wine refreshments will be available. Tickets available on the door at £7 for adults, £5 for Friends of St Bartholomew’s, and £3 fro children. The concert starts at 7.pm.

Also tomorrow evening there is a fun Kareoke evening at the Wheel Inn Burwash Weald. This fun event to celebrate St George’s Day is to get you singing for England. Kick of is 8.30- 9pm.

On Sunday Morning there will be a car boot sale at the Wheel Inn, in aid of the Swings and Things for the Burwash Swan Meadow playing fields, to help replace out of date and dangerous play equipment for the children’s play area. THe boot sale is on from 10am to 2pm. The cost is £5 for a car £8 for a van. You can book now on 882758 to be sure of a pitch or just turn up. Full English breakfast will be available in the Wheel from 10am to 12 noon. Takeaway Pizzas and fish & chips will also be on sale from 12 noon. The Wheel Inn is under new management, who are intent on becoming an integral part of the community. This is just the beginning.

The Burwash branch of Age concern Lunch club meet on Monday at the Bear Motel from 12 noon. This is open to all members of our community over 55 who would enjoy a lunch with congenial company and no washing up!!. THe two course meal costs £8 per person. To book your place please call Jazz Botting on 01435 882033 or Heather Lewis on 882080 or Maddie Ashbee on 883233. They maybe able to arrange transport for those who need it.

A fun general knowledge quiz evening is being held next Saturday, 28th April, at the Burwash village Hall. Tables of six players are welcome to enter at £6 per person. Hot supper will be served during the interval. Guests are invited to bring their own drink and glasses. To book your team in call Mary Taylor on 01435 882107. Proceeds to the Village halls maintainance fund, which this year will see the outside of the hall re-painted and the hall floor sanded and polished.
