Burwash village voice - March 30

The children of The Musical Theatre group invite you see them perform their interpretation of E. Nesbit’s, The Railway Children. They have been rehearsing for weeks to bring you two shows, one tonight, Friday the other tomorrow, at The Burwash village Hall, both at 7.30pm. Tickets are £4 each, available from Mary Alderson on 01435 882051 and Jane Coleman on 882687. Good luck to everyone for two great shows.

The Burwash & district Horticultural society are staging their annual Spring Show tomorrow. It is being held in the Pavilion at Swan Meadow Burwash. The host of golden daffodils and other lovely spring plants can be arranged between 9am and 11am, after which judging will take place. Visitors can go along from 2.15pm. Entry is free, but there will be a raffle and refreshments. Good luck to all the exhibitors.

The Burwash Monday painters are holding an exhibition of their work tomorrow, at the Union Church hall, Station Road, Heathfield, from 10am to 4pm. This talented group of local people will display there work, some of which will be for sale. Entry is free. Do go along and find out more about this group and how you too can be one of their members. As their name sugests, they meet every Monfay from October to May in the Burwash village hall. during the summer they go out and about, painting the scenes around them.

Also tomorrow, Mother & wife Laura Carver will join 4,999 other runners to become the first to run round the new track of the Olympic Stadium. Laura will race five miles through the Olympic village and into the stadium in front of 12,000 spectators, including her husband Neil and their six year old daughter Millie. An exciting event for Laura and we wish her luck and enjoyment of the day.

Well done to Burwash dance teacher Jane Coleman who has just passed examinations to become a Ballet Examiner. Jane has been a teacher in Burwash and other villages and schools for over thirty years, and has seen thousands of pupils pass many exams. Now she will be able to pass the young dancers of other schools after getting her qualifications. Congratulations Jane on this great achievement.

Burwash Weald & Common Pavilion club are holding their 2012 membership party on Sunday from 12noon until 3pm. This is your chance to renew your membership or become a new member, giving you the chance to win in the quarterly draws. There will be refreshments available. At 2pm the planting of the Jubilee Tree will take place, when 103 year old Jim smith will be there to plant it. You are all invited to go along and witness this momentous event.

On Sunday morning, the congregation of St Bartholomew’s church will celebrate Palm sunday, beginning with a procession from the Bear Car park at 9.45am. We are all welcome to go along and join in.

Next Saturday, 7th April, Nola Rae and Michael Popper will perform Nellie Pasta’s Opera cocktail, a visual comedy, at the Burwash village hall at 8pm. Tickets are £5 each available from the Burwash Newsagents.
