A small enterprise centre could be set up in Greenwich House near the Meridian Centre in Peacehaven.

Peacehaven Town Council and Lewes District Council, together with the building owners East Sussex County Council, are working together to establish a business case for the project.

The building has recently been vacated by Sussex Partnership Health Trust which relocated to Newhaven.

District council lead councillor for business, economic development and tourism, Rob Blackman, said: “The building presents a great opportunity to bring a flourishing small business centre to Peacehaven for which there appears to be a real need.”

The scheme has the backing of Peacehaven Chamber of Commerce and Sussex Business Bureau.

The town council recently carried out a short survey to assess the need for a small enterprise centre and the response has been encouraging.

East Sussex County Councillor for Peacehaven, Telscombe and Saltdean, John Livings, added: “Business centre would also help generate greater footfall in the Meridian Shopping Centre which would clearly benefit the businesses that are situated in there.”

The three local authorities are now bringing together information to work up a business case for the potential enterprise centre.
