Busy weekend for firefighters in Brighton and Hove

Firefighters in Brighton and Hove have had a busy weekend, responding to several collisions, a loose chimney and a person shut in a lift.

At 7.39am on Saturday (July 28), Brighton firefighters responded to reports of a dangerous structure at Madeira Drive, Brighton, and crews made the scene safe.

Then, at 9.40am, Brighton firefighters attended a small fire at Wild Park, Lewes Road, Brighton, and extinguished it with buckets of water.

Firefighters from Brighton were called out to a collision involving two cars on Carden Avenue, Brighton, at 10.17am.

At 3.17pm Brighton firefighters were called out to a home on Milner Road, Brighton, following reports of a loose chimney, but crews again worked to ensure the scene was safe.

Firefighters from Roedean and Brighton responded to reports of a person shut in a lift on Montague Street, Brighton, at 5.04pm.

Fortunately, they were able to release the trapped person.

On Sunday (July 29) at 1.58am, Brighton and Hove fire crews extinguished a small fire at a residential property on The Drive, Hove, before carrying out a Home Safety Visit.

At 8.32am, Hove firefighters attended a fire in the open on Saxon Road, Hove, and extinguished this with buckets of water.

Then, at 9.39am, crews from Brighton, Roedean and Lewes attended a second collision involving two vehicles on the A27 near Falmer. One person was released from one of the vehicles.

At 2.37pm, Brighton firefighters responded to reports of a dangerous structure at a property on Mighell Street, Brighton, and made the scene safe.

At 3.09pm, Brighton firefighters attended a car fire on Whitehawk Hill Road, Brighton, using one hose reel to extinguish it.

Shortly after, at 3.33pm, Brighton firefighters attended a flooding at a residential property on Dean Street, Brighton, with crews isolating the leak and making the scene safe.

Finally, at 6.15pm, Brighton firefighters attended a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on Cottage Vale Avenue, Brighton, again making the scene safe.
