Butlin's to talk about cutting beds

BUTLIN'S is to meet a Felpham councillor who accused the company of ignoring planning rules.

The holiday company said it would sit down with Graham Matthews, of Felpham Parish Council, to explain how it was fulfilling its obligations.

A spokesman for Butlin’s said: “We fully intend to comply with the planning regulations as agreed with Arun District Council.

“The Wave hotel opened at the beginning of July last year and, as the council was aware, we have 12 months to make the necessary changes.

“We have agreed to meet Cllr Matthews to make sure we are all aligned.”

The Observer reported last week the comments Cllr Matthew made at this month’s parish council meeting about the need for Butlin’s to reduce the number of beds at its site.

The company had been given a year by Arun to cut 252 beds within a year of the Wave hotel opening to keep the resort’s capacity the same. Arun confirmed the comments.
