Cactus Show

FOR those who believe that the only place to see a variety of Cactus plants is the desert surrounding Dodge City then a visit to the East Sussex Cactus Association's 42nd annual show (held last Saturday in Bexhill) would have been a revelation in itself.

There was an outstanding selection to be seen and show secretary Mrs Jenny Wells said: "We always try to put on a good display. All the plants on show are locally grown; some are grown from little plants right into the beauties that are here today."

This can take many years as member of the association and expert Roy Lee knows only to well. Having grown a range of cactus plants over the past 35 years, he knows his Ariocarpus from his Echinocereusdelaetii - one which he displayed in the show and won him an award of merit is almost 30 years old.
