Cadets' walk yields £500 for Heart Foundation

FOR thirteen and a half miles 17 members of No. 2262 (Bexhill) Squadron, Air Training Corps trudged around the shoreline of Bewl Water.

They and 145 other walkers were there on May 4 for a serious purpose - to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Their guest of honour at their Drill Hall headquarters last Friday evening was the organiser of the third annual BHF sponsored walk.

Rose Mitson is chairman of the charity's Tunbridge Wells branch. Introduced by the commanding officer, Flight Lieutenant Andy Izzard, she was present to receive a cheque for 500 from the Squadron.

The chairman was given the honour of inspecting the squadron before First Class Cadet Michelle Agoston presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

Michelle not only completed the walk but raised the highest sponsorship in the squadron, 73.

The squadron gave their guest a demonstration of their drill technique, much of it undertaken without spoken command.
