YOUNGSTERS in Littlehampton can look forward to a fun-filled summer.

Thanks to a lottery grant, a brand new youth caf is due to open in the heart of the town.

An Awards For All grant of 4,920 means the Flintstone Centre, run by West Sussex Youth Service, will soon boast a fantastic new caf , complete with DJ decks, internet facilities and information and advice on a range of topics.

Neighbourhood youth worker Denis Byrne said everyone at the centre was delighted with the funding. The new caf should be up and running in July.

He said: "We are really pleased because this is something young people have been asking for.

"Wick has Project 82, which has proved extremely successful, and now we will be able to offer a similar service in the town centre."

Work is already underway redecorating a room and buying new equipment for the caf .

It will be staffed by youth workers and will initially open on Saturdays and weekday afternoons.

"It's going to be a small-scale caf where young people come to mingle in the day-time. It's sort of a pilot project," added Denis.

And it doesn't end there as a green area at the centre will be renovated as part of its environmental and arts project.

The garden project will renovate an old patch of ground and develop a new green seating area for the community as well as centre users.
