Cakes show need to keep cosy in winter

BOBBLES which could be eaten as well as worn were a fun way to highlight a serious message at a Bognor Regis charity shop.

The chocolate cakes were on sale as part of the AgeUK outlet’s Bobble Day. This was aimed at raising awareness of the need to keep warm.

Shop manager Sue Barratt said: “We want to highlight the fact this is supposed to be the coldest day of the year.

“The response from people has been very supportive and it has also brought them in to look around the shop.”

A raffle with 260-plus prizes included teapots and cosies as another way last Friday to emphasise the importance of warmth in winter.

The enthusiasm of shoppers enabled £123.50 to be raised from ticket sales.
