Call for volunteers to step forward in the Observer area

Have you ever thought of becoming a volunteer?

Research shows 80 per cent of people would volunteer if they were asked - so the Arun Volunteer Centre is asking for your help!

“To let me know if you are one of the 80 per cent, call me today or drop in and have a chat at one of our face-to-face surgeries,” said Derek Moore, MBE, who works at the centre.

Some of this week’s vacancies:

Bognor Regis Time Bank - The Time Bank is open to all residents over the age of 18 to participate in and benefit from. Residents don’t buy and sell with money but instead make deposits and withdrawals of their time. The system encourages people to help each other out by swapping their skills with other members. So, for example, a Time Bank member might help walk someone’s dog and get a shelf put up in return by another member. We would like to recruit a new Time Broker.

Conservation Volunteer - Friends Of Bersted Brooks - We have some work days coming up - the dates are Sunday 9th December, Sunday 10th February & Sunday 14th April, from 11am to 1pm, & we meet at the Bersted Brooks car park in Rowan Way.  Volunteers are strongly advised to wear suitable clothing & boots, as it will either be wet or frozen underfoot.  We will mainly focus on the removal of tree guards from the young trees we have planted over many years, & if volunteers want to bring their children (not babies at this time of year, as it’s too cold out on the Brooks) they can help pile up the discarded shelters etc - something they generally love doing.
