Camber can’t keep up withdemand for holiday homes

Interest in Camber has soared after more people became aware of its sandy beaches when it was used as a location for the Hollywood blockbuster Monuments Men.

Mulberry Cottages, a holiday property agency specialising in luxury holiday cottages across Southern England has announced a year on year increase in enquiries for holiday lets at Camber Sands.

Noticing a shortage of holiday homes in the area, the agency is encouraging more holiday rental properties to become available in order to meet the demand.

Mandie Davis, Property and Valuation Manager at lettings agency Mulberry Cottages comments: “We have more people wanting to rent in Rye and Camber Sands than we have properties available at present and so we are in search of more holiday homes to be able to offer the market.

“This lovely part of East Sussex attracts short term rentals all year round and so it would make an ideal buy to let location for any investor or second home owner.”

One location that has proved particularly popular is the new homes development, White Sands.

Although many of the residents live there all year round, there is a clear trend of second homeowners, who are cashing in on rental yields of up to 11 per cent which, it is claimed, can be achieved over 28 peak weeks.

“The welcoming community and the proximity to the magnificent beaches, tick many of the boxes for those looking to buy an easy to manage and appealing holiday-let.”

Mandie Davis says that interest in the area was definitely boosted by the Monuments men filming, which led to more coverage of Camber in the national media.

She said: “Letting at Camber is in demand from April through to October and then there are always those looking to rent for the Christmas period.”

White Sands one an award for the design of the properties, which have ship lap boarding and are surrounded by ranch style picket fences.

Now in its final phase, there are only a few homes available including apartments from £164,995 and houses from £249,995.
