DOZENS of kite surfers made a colourful sight in the sea on Monday when they made their way from Pett Level to Camber.

It was one of the events organised as part of Camber Kite Week.

“The trip took approximately 45 min’s, and we were all on a high when we finished.

Kite Week finishes on Saturday with kiters in fancy dress at Camber, and a party on sat night at the Camber Castle inn with live music.

Local housebuilder Ward Homes is sponsoring the first prize for a Big Air Competition on Saturday which will see the winning kite surfer receive a top of the range kiteboard worth almost £400.

Anthony Skinner, Kite Week organiser, commented; “Now in its fourth year Camber Kite Week has been going from strength to strength and we hope this year will be the most successful yet.

“It is great to see local businesses offer their support and I’d like to thank Ward Homes for the donation. The sponsorship has meant that this year there is an amazing prize up for grabs for the best surfer on the day, making the competition really exciting.”

Mark Vanson, Ward Homes Sales and Marketing Director, commented: “Camber Sands is famous for its beautiful long beach which is appreciated by locals and visitors alike. Water sports are a big part of coastal living and we are delighted to support the Kite Surfing Big Air Competition, taking place close to our White Sand development. We hope that the local community will come down on Saturday to show their support, by taking part or just enjoy the day.”
