More than £1,000 worth of prizes has already been donated by residents.

“The generosity of the local businesses and individuals in providing prizes for our raffle has not just met my expectations of the area it has far exceeded it,” said campaigner Roger Dean, 57, of Hanover.

The project aims to raise enough money to provide those going into emergency or temporary accommodation with ‘starter packs’ of basic essentials from socks to soap.

Campaigner Beverly Ann, 48, of Hanover, said: “It would be really great if we can help provide a starter pack for everyone who needs one. But that’s a massive thing to achieve.”

Prizes include a Bluebird Tea Co. gift box, a make-up session by Eloise Stevenson, brunch and drinks for two at Starfish Coffee, music lessons from Ryan Bradley, limited edition London Street Art magazines, a Thai lunch for two at Maju’s, a joint of meat from Sussex Peasant, a gutter clean by J P Cleaning Solutions and more.
