Wealden District Council is participating in the National Association of British Market Authorities’ Love Your Local Market campaign this May.

More than 700 markets across the UK are taking part in the campaign to raise the profile of local markets, and Wealden believes its markets are among the best in the country.

To attract new customers and new stall holders there will be free promotional goods available at Wealden’s markets during May including re-useable shopping bags and badges to promote the campaign.

There will be a Farmers’ Market every Saturday in Wealden, including Hailsham on May 10. There will also be Hailsham Street Market, and village markets at Chiddingly, East Dean, Stone Cross, and Pevensey.

Cllr Roy Galley, Cabinet member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: “Local markets in Wealden are booming and reflect the rich diversity of our area. They boost our prosperity by promoting local produce and crafts.”
