Campaigner wants drug trial results made public

A RETIRED woman is campaigning for the results of all drugs trials to be made public.

Joan Wade, of Rowlands Road, Worthing, has launched a petition on change.org calling on the Department of Health and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) to publish all drug trial tests.

Ms Wade believes the use of statins – a drug used to treat people with high cholesterol – over a two-year period left her with severe side effects, including irreversible muscle wastage.

Ms Wade said: “Doctors should not be allowed to prescribe any drug to a patient where the drug trial test has not been made public.

“Every time we go to a GP we don’t know if that drug prescribed is good for us.”
