Can village green status save Littlehampton’s open spaces?

DOG WALKERS and nature lovers are fighting to keep their green, and have come up with a unique solution to what they call over-development.

An application has been made to West Sussex County Council to grant “village green status” to the field in between Worthing Road and the Littlehampton Academy, which has long been earmarked for houses.

Nick Sutton, of Toddington Park, said: “We are not NIMBYs, and we are not against development.

“But we have got enough houses. What we need is some green space, where we can not only walk our dogs, but fly kites, have picnics and watch nature.”
