A candlelight vigil will be held in Lewes this evening (Friday, June 17) after the killing of Jo Cox MP.
The vigil is expected to take place in Cliffe High Street at 7.30pm in honour of the West Yorkshire MP, who died after a violent attack in her constituency yesterday afternoon (June 16).
An EU referendum campaign march, scheduled to take place on Saturday (June 18), has been cancelled as a mark of respect.
Organisers say they will instead hold second vigil at 10.30am on Saturday at the County Council offices in St. Anne’s Crescent.
Anyone thinking of attending either vigil is asked to wear black and bring their own candles.
Earlier this evening Mrs Cox’s family launched a memorial fund for her favourite charities. More information can be found at www.gofundme.com/jocox.
