Cannabis arrests

POLICE swooped on Wednesday to make an arrest at a cannabis factory in the town centre.

It is the ninth hydroponics set-up to be found in Bexhill in the last six months. It is thought to have no links to the factories found previously.

Officers found the factory, based in the old Phoenix Cycle premises in Windsor Road, following information gained during the execution of warrants in Eastbourne on the same day.

Police found the hydroponics set-up was in the process of being dismantled and found only stalks without leaves.

Inspector Martin Mann said: "They have probably done well out of it in the past. Whether they were going to come back to it I couldn't say yet.

"There were a lot of stalks but they look to have already been cultivated. There were no growing leaves."

A 36-year-old Bexhill man was arrested at the scene and bailed. A 40-year-old man was also arrested in Eastbourne in connection with the discovery.
