Car collides with tree on A27

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car collided with a tree on the A27 this morning (Wednesday December 11).

Police said long traffic delays built up on the A27 between Lewes and Polegate after a car travelling east left the road and collided with a tree.

The incident happened between Middle Farm and Charleston Farmhouse, Firle.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman, was shocked but unhurt, police said.

Police said efforts to recover the crashed vehicle will be made later today.
