The premises currently occupied by Hop Skip and Jump in Swan Walk shopping centre would be taken over if plans for a new multiplex are given the green light.

Swan Walk has revealed plans to build a five-screen cinema, four restaurants and a large new retail unit at the western end of the centre.

A spokesperson for Hop Skip and Jump said: “Hop Skip and Jump provide a valuable and much valued service in Horsham, supporting families from across West Sussex with specialist care requirements.

“We are working closely with the Swan Walk team to provide a service that helps some of the most vulnerable people in the area.

“The proposed new development follows the end of our current lease in Swan Walk - we will be reviewing our care arrangements at that time with our partners in the area, and look forward to supporting families in Horsham for many years to come.”

Swan Walk centre manager Gill Buchanan said she hoped the restaurants, cinema and store will open in October 2019.

The care centre was opened just last year by Samantha Cameron, and offers a safe environment for disabled children and respite for their parents.

Wilkinson previously said it had ‘no plans’ to leave Horsham.
