PLANS FOR A 55-BED care home and 15 close care apartments in Five Ash Down have been approved by Wealden District Council. The home would be run by Barchester Healthcare.
The building, set to one side of the estate constructed on the site of the former Grampian chicken factory, has now been designed to have two floors instead of three.
A report before planners says the scheme has been lodged by Care Home Investments (Five Ash Down) - a wholly owned subsidiary of Castleoak Care Developments. The company has bought the freehold of the land and wants to begin construction as quickly as possible.
The new home will only be occupied by people over 60, people whose admission has been approved in writing by the council or people suffering from various forms of clinical dementia including Alzheimers.
