“This was such a pleasure, as this home is a specialist dementia home that is under new ownership.

“I was very impressed with the dedication and caring shown to residents by the owner and management.

“The new room was originally a garage but it now looks like a beach house café with some really good décor and furniture to give the desired effect.”

The activities room has been named the Beach Hut Café and will enable the home’s 30 residents to take part in various types of therapy, including artwork, in a safe environment.

Manager John Wilkins said: “It’s very important to have engagement with our residents to occupy them and the experiences need to be short because of the memory scenario.

“It’s some thing we will be using on daily basis.

“It’s a short walk but it can be a meaningful experience.

“We are trying to make sure we can deliver the right service.”
