“I am sure you can imagine what this means for myself, the team and our residents. We are all very proud and we can’t stop smiling.

“If we look at 2015 to 2016 we have been awarded the National Care Team of 2015, awarded with the first outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission in West Sussex – still only one per cent of care homes have this rating – and now to bring 2016 to a close with the National Care Home of the year is such an honour.”

Valerie Manor staff were presented with the award by Keith Duffy at the high-profile awards night held on Friday November 25 at the Hilton London Metropole hotel.

Judges involved in deciding the winners said: “The judges chose Valerie Manor because it has outstanding leadership, community and resident involvement, a waiting list for staff and residents, and is a happy home for all.”
