Residents are encouraged to visit their local care home to get involved in the number of events and activities taking place.

The initiative, supported by West Sussex County Council & West Sussex Partners in Care, looks to help build positive links between care home providers, residents, staff and their local communities.

Peter Catchpole, cabinet member for adult social care and health at WSCC, said: “We know how important the care sector is in supporting our residents and National Care Home Open Day provides the perfect platform to help raise awareness of this across the whole of the community.”

“I look forward to being a part of the day again this year and it would be wonderful if members of the public could do the same.”

Rosemary Pavoni, chair of West Sussex Partners in Care, added: “WSPiC is proud to support National Care Home Open Day and celebrate the wonderful work that takes place every day in our care homes, providing care to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

The theme for this year’s open day is ‘Celebration,’ with those attending encouraged to celebrate the efforts of care homes within the region, while also finding out what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of local communities.
