Debbie Stevens was delighted to receive the prestigious West Sussex Care Accolades award at a recent ceremomy held at the Arundel Wetland Centre.

The awards pay tribute to local carers who go above and beyond in providing the best level of care possible and by sharing their stories hope to inspire others to consider a career in care. They are a joint initiative between West Sussex County Council and West Sussex Partners in Care.

Liz Brackley, owner of the home care company and who nominated Debbie, said: “We are so proud of Debbie, she is such a caring person showing a wonderful empathy with all her elderly clients. She is able to adapt her caring style to suit her client’s specific needs or requirements which is so important in helping them to feel safe and secure and able to enjoy living independently at home.”

Debbie, who is from Patcham, said: “I was completely shocked but thrilled to win the award, I couldn’t believe it. I love every day, coming to work is a pleasure, it really is so important to feel like you are making a difference to someone’s life and here at Home Instead that is just what we do. It is quite a new role for me, but I am really proud to work in care and would encourage other people to find out more about being a caregiver.”
