Carpet helps Cancer Research in Southwick

A CHARITY shop in Southwick is more cosy, thanks to the generosity of one of its customers.

The Cancer Research UK Shop in Southwick Square needed a new carpet '“ and customer Mark Flower agreed to pay up to 500 for it.

"I am so pleased to have paid for it in memory of my mum and dad, who died last year at nearly 90 and 91 years old," said Mr Flower, pictured above with shop volunteer Daphne Geal.

The carpet came to only 436, so Mr Flower donated the rest of the 500 to the local Macmillan group.

Tracey Stevens, from the Cancer Research UK shop, said: "Apparently, we'd had the same carpet since we opened, which was 20 years ago.

"I'd just like to say thank you to Mr Flower. It was really nice of him to do that.

"We weren't expecting one person to pay for it, and it was done within a week."
