Our free Create.Make.Bake events in April celebrate the words of Einstein and all that local creatives have to offer. On Wednesday (April 24), join us at the George in Rye where you can not only enjoy a day getting creative but also take a leisurely lunch sampling local, handmade food.

We have brought together some of the finest artisans across Sussex to hold mini workshops, talks and demonstrations, these events will inspire you to start upcycling, baking and creating fabulous homewares, accessories and gifts. If ‘doing’ is not your thing, then our pop-up shop will be bursting at the seams with gorgeous handmade and vintage items that you simply cannot live without!

Craft experts at Cascade will be coming in force, bringing three of their talented artisans to set your creative side alight! Working with some amazing talent from the Sussex coast, Cascade will inspire you to restore, revive and remake using vintage materials.

Juliette Goggin, Channel 4 presenter of Super Scrimpers and co-author of Junk Genius, will be on hand showcasing how to create simple home wares out of recycled fabric and transforming old jewellery into statement pieces.

Bringing old, tired furniture into modern day living, Halcyon Days has the skill, knowledge and passion to show you how to transform furniture into stunning upcycled objects.

Gone are the days of tassels and chintz, find out how to transform a standard lampshade into a stunning piece with Made in Mountfield.

Caroline Rance will be on hand to show you how to create and upholster even the most tired looking seat so you can welcome guests with the most comfortable and stylish chairs.

Presenting and creating stunning floral arrangements is second nature to Joyce Pannell. Learn her tricks of the trade as she takes you through different flower arrangement techniques.

Isobel from Labyrinth Stained Glass will be showing how this magnificent ancient skill is brought to the 21stcentury and how to recreate it in your own home.

Browse some simply stunning cards and notebooks using Japanese stab-stitching by local artisan Helen Hunt and create some simple no-stitch booklets for yourself!

Kirsty from Birds and Beads will be at the Bell showing her range of bespoke jewellery and offering you the chance to set a loved one’s finger, hand or foot print in silver to create a truly unique gift.

Laura from Green Tiara will be coming along with her bespoke Tiara skills for all future brides and princesses in the making.

British Design, British Made, purveyors of locally made and designed products, utilising sustainable and recycled materials, will be there with their pop up shop.

Debbie Siniska will be demonstrating her Rag Rug skills, turning recycled and vintage fabrics into amazing rugs, as seen on channel 4’s Kirstie’s Homemade Home.

The Lighthouse Bakery School will be on hand to show you how to create some of the most fantastic artisan loaves. Definitely not one to miss!
