Lent: The Lent Course meetings are on Wednesdays until Easter week and start at 11am (10.30am for coffee) in the Parish Room at St George's Church, Crowhurst or if you prefer the evening, it will start at 7.30pm with tea/coffee available at 7.10pm at The Rectory, Catsfield and both will last about an hour. This is The Year of the Bible and the specially produced Diocesan Course entitled '˜Hear the Word of the Lord' will be the basis of the course. You do not have to be at every group and although there is an opportunity for group discussion, nobody has to feel they must contribute. These groups are always very friendly and relaxed.

Family Service Change: Please note that The Family Service at St Laurence Church will NOT be held this week, although it will be the third Sunday in the month. This Sunday, 19th March the Parish Communion for the third Sunday in Lent will be at 9.15am.

Sport: Our footballers ended a rather dismal season last Saturday with a 5 - 0 defeat at Hollington, who are top of the league, but we couldn’t even manage to score. It looks likely we will now end up towards the bottom of the table, which hopefully won’t dishearten our loyal players.

Village Plants: Have you noticed the wonderful display of WI bulbs in the planter by the Village Hall and also the daffodils planted by the village sign, which was the result of the last Jubilee celebrations?

Good news from Roger at Redcoat, who will be growing his special chrysanthemums again, even though he has had to close the shop due to the enormous hike in business rates. In the meantime, of course, Great Park Farm are selling their plants ready for the season and there is a good range of locally grown plants and sometimes flowers, at the village shop. Remember too that the Christian Aid Plant Sale will be coming up in May and there’s always a great selection to be had from there and at very reasonable prices.
