Catsfield

Church News: Bishop Richard, the bishop of Lewes is coming to Catsfield on Saturday 31st January to lead a session in Catsfield Village Hall from 10am – 2pm on how Christians should approach the Old Testament. This special event is open to all and you can sign up at either Crowhurst or Catsfield Church or ring Father Michael on 892988. Soup will be available at lunchtime. Maybe this will be the opportunity to gain better understanding of some of the more difficult and often violent parts of the bible and at the same time, show the Bishop what an enthusiastic and welcoming community this is.

Catsfield 100 Club: Once again, a reminder that the annual renewal of your membership is now due and the subscription remains a very reasonable £12 to be paid by the end of January. It gives you the opportunity to enter the draw for a prize of £25 each month or £100 in three special draws during the year. Please contact Victoria Crawshaw on 893711 for any further information on ticket sales or send your renewal to her at Forge Cottage, Blacksmiths Lane, Catsfield.

Mobile Library: As yet no further schedules for the visits of the Mobile Library have been received and there has been a question mark over the frequency of its future appearances in Catsfield. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear any further news.

January 2015: It’s been a very mixed start to the year weather-wise, with wet warm winds, some bright frosty mornings, lovely sunrises and sunsets and the prospect of an uncertain couple of months ahead. However, the daylight hours are imperceptibly getting longer and the heliotrope is already flowering in the ditches and at the roadside. The earliest daffodils are to be seen and I’m sure the snowdrops must be appearing somewhere, so Spring IS on its way!

Kimber’s Men: To jog your memories that there’s a good evening’s entertainment on Saturday 21st February at 7.30pm, when the singing group Kimber’s Men appear in the Village Hall. Tickets are on sale now from Village Shop £9 and concessions are £6 (over 60’s & children)

Catsfield Village Voice: Please contact me if you have any items of news or forthcoming events in the village and I’ll be happy to include them in the column. Telephone me on 01424 316309 or email [email protected]
