Tomorrow is the St Laurence Church Christmas Market in the Village Hall from 10am - 2pm. It’s a great opportunity to buy Christmas cards and presents and the new Catsfield Recipe Book, which will be on sale for the first time. Santa will be in his grotto attended by the elves, there will be an excellent raffle, bathroom stall, cake stall, tombola, plants, Bric a Brac, books and several challenging games for your amusement. Tea and coffee and Ploughman’s Lunches will be served. Entrance 50p and free to children, so come along and enjoy a great event whilst helping to raise money for our beautiful parish church.

This Sunday, 1st December is Advent Sunday and there will be a Family Communion service at the church of St Laurence at 9.15am, to which all are very welcome. There will be an Advent Carol Service in the evening at 6pm.

If you haven’t yet responded to the appeal letter that was sent to all Catsfield residents, it is still not too late to do so. Your donation is urgently needed to help with the expenses of maintaining our parish church. A regular contribution of just £2 a month could make a great difference or a one off donation would be much appreciated.

The next fundraising event for the church will be an exciting ‘first’! On Saturday 25th January 2014 a traditional Burns Night Dinner will be held in the Village Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets will cost only £10 and will be available soon, numbers will be limited, so hurry to get yours when they go on sale.

The WI holds its Christmas Party on Thursday 5th December at 2pm when the speaker will be Geoff Hutchinson who will entertain us as he talks about ‘What is Christmas’. Members are reminded to bring a gift for the bran tub costing about £2 and the competition will be for ‘A Christmas Table Decoration on a Saucer’, the teas will be served by the committee.

Another big village Christmas event also takes place next week, on 5th, 6th and 7th December, when the CADS perform their annual Christmas pantomime and doubtless will have the audience rolling in the aisles! ‘Panto Goes West’ is their latest offering and tickets are available in Catsfield Village Store, so if you haven’t already got yours, you may not be too late if you’re quick.
