Catsfield

The Playing Field has seen lots of activity in the past week with the new play area being built and by the time this week’s edition is published, we hope it will be nearly completed. Saturday afternoon Catsfield first team lost their football fixture against Tackleway 2 3 with captain Tony Luke scoring our two goals. Unfortunately it rained hard during the match resulting in the ancient supporters sheltering near the hedge in customary fashion. The second team fared better away to Tackleway seconds winning 2 1. Fixtures this week continue with the first team playing Hollington United seconds in the Wisdens Sports Cup away, with the second team at home to Sandhurst seconds.

You may have been surprised to see Battle Bowmen holding their annual archery do on the Field on Sunday, but this provides another event where we can see our facilities used. It all helps with the costs of keeping the Field and pavilion in good order.

Sunday 22nd there is another boot sale 8 am start, cars £8, vans £10, car and trailer £10, entry is free for children with adults paying 50p. Please contact Theresa on 01424 428915 or 07732 595505.

News from the Parish Council is that on Monday 23rd September at the Village Hall 7.30pm there is a public meeting to discuss the “Main Modifications” to the Rother Local Plan Core Strategy being put forward for consideration to the Secretary of State. This is a very important document which will have an impact on future development within and around the village and residents are asked to come along and make their views known. Representations will only relate to the main modifications.

As part of a Catsfield Primary School project there will be a table sale at the Village Hall on Saturday 28th September 2.30 to 4.30pm. Tables are £5 and can be reserved by phoning 01424 892831. Set-up will be from 1pm. Buyers can enter free of charge. Tea and refreshments will be sold. The proceeds will be divided between a year 5/6 class trip and a chosen charity. So, please come along and support this school mini-enterprise project, it should be great fun with a competition for who in the Leopards Class can make the most money with an initial investment of £1.
