The next fund-raising event for the parish church of St Laurence will be on June 15 when there will be a Boot Sale in the playing field from 8am until 12 noon. The charge for a van will be £10 and £7 for a car, there will be a 50p entrance charge for browsers. Refreshments will be available. Let’s hope that the weather stays fine for this event and lots of money can be raised towards the maintenance of our lovely old church.

Thursday June 6 is the next WI meeting in the Village Hall at 2.30pm. This month is the WI Fun Flower and Produce Show when members have the opportunity to exhibit their cookery, flower arranging and handicraft skills in fun competition with each other in fifteen various classes. This always makes for an interesting meeting and is enjoyed by all.

The weather lately has been completely haywire and utterly confusing for wildlife and gardeners alike, but fortunately the bank holiday weekend turned out fine and enabled young and old alike to enjoy the sunshine. The woods have been magnificent with wonderful swathes of bluebells under the trees, mixed at first with wood anemones and later edged by red campion, soon to be followed by a multitude of foxgloves, which seem have sprung up everywhere. It may have been wet and dismal for months, but we have been compensated by some wonderful displays of spring flowers.
