John Lovering, chairman of Hastings Pier Charity’s board of directors, gained the award in recognition of his many years of service to the charitable sector and his work through the Lovering Charitable Trust, which also ‘recognises the enormous work that has gone into the renovation of Hastings Pier’.

Mr Lovering said: “I was honoured to be asked to lead the Hastings Pier board and am enormously proud of the work done by the small management team, the volunteers, the 3,000 plus shareholders and the entire town in backing this project and supporting it through to completion last month.”
