Following the Worthing Herald revealing the chaos the youth's dangerous actions caused, officers have now released a CCTV image of a youth they would like to identify in connection with the incident.

Police were called just before 5.30pm after a report three youths had walked off the end of the platform at Lancing station and were headed towards East Worthing.

BTP officers attended the area to perform a trackside search, with an officer then spotting one of the youths hiding in a bush.

Despite being told to stay where he was because the electrical current on the third rail was switched on, the youth crossed the tracks and made off.

BTP Sergeant John Dickinson, one of the investigating officers, said: "This was incredibly dangerous behaviour that could have had far worse consequences and I am urging anyone with any information that could help our investigation or who recognises the youth pictured in the CCTV image to get in touch."
