THE CELEBRATE Cuckmere Exhibition (June 10-19) is looking for volunteers to help coordinate some of its satellite exhibitions.
Show coordinator Carolyn Robertson said: “We are looking for ladies who paint or who have a real affinity with art to help co-ordinate the satellite, amateur exhibitions that are going to take place in Seaford.”
Artwork for the exhibition should also be delivered now to 5 Coastguard Cottages at Cuckmere Haven or by letter enclosing a photograph of the piece you would like to show.
It could be a creative work by yourself or something you bought or were given. As long as the subject is Cuckmere it can be any medium, including embroidery, pottery, painting or poetry.
If you have hung an art exhibition or would like to, come to the meeting at the lower Coastguard Cottage on Sunday May 29 at 10.30am, call 07943 091003 or visit www.celebratecuckmere.com.
The beauty and history of the Cuckmere is being celebrated with the festival, which will include walks, talks and art exhibitions.
There will even be the opportunity to have tea at the famous Coastguard Cottages.
Organisers want people to contribute their own art work inspired by the river, an old painting or a photograph.
The Celebrate Cuckmere exhibition organisers are also interested in hearing special memories about the estuary.
Local historian Kevin Gordon said “We are so lucky to have this spectacular natural resource at our doorstep.
“The estuary has seen many interesting events in the past including visits by smugglers and wreckers.
“There was plenty of military activity during the war but in recent years it has also been a happy holiday venue. “I hope this event will encourage people to revisit the estuary and share their stories of the area.”
