Celebrations for group which keeps Bognor safe

A makeover has been celebrated for a body which helps to keep Bognor Regis safe.

The launch of the Arun Safer Partnership was marked on the final day of a week of action in the Pevensey ward which it had organised.

Senior figures in the partnership came together for the occasion.

The group brings together representatives from the district and county councils, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and NHS West Sussex.

The partnership's work includes dealing with complaints from residents about anti-social behaviour.

This results in an average of about ten individuals a year being given ASBOs.

These are a last resort after a series of interventions which usually prove successful in deflecting the person away from the problem activities.

Richard Bartram, Arun District Council's community safety officer, said: "We wanted to give the partnership a fresher image to get more people to understand how they can get involved in community safety to make their neighbourhoods better places to live."
