Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White plans to add his expertise to a drive to raise money for East Sussex hospices.
On Monday he joined Friends of East Sussex Hospices (FESH) chairwoman Kathy Gore from Framfield to launch the NoshChezNous initiative.
This encourages people to hold dinner, supper or lunch parties where friends and family can make voluntary donations to FESH.
The launch was held at The Chequers, Maresfield, one of two Sussex inns now re-vamped as part of the famous Wheelers of St James group.
Kathy explained how hospices receive little or no Government funding and give unrivalled support to adults and children suffering from life-limiting diseases.
She said: “Hospitals are primarily there to help people get better and while they are marvellous, they are not necessarily the kindest and quietest places to spend precious days at the end of one’s life.”
Marco has offered to cook for 12 people at the home of an online auction winner for a minimum bid of £10,000.
