The tree was dedicated in recognition of all of his hard work and his dedication to the Whyke Estate for more than a decade. Dave entered the estate into the In Bloom competition over the past 10 years in which it has won awards every year, even achieving both silver and gold awards. A plaque was also dedicated to him in the Whyke Estate War Memorial Garden for his achievements. Dave said: “The tree and the plaque were both a pleasant surprise as I did not have no idea about either of these recognitions”. The tree was donated by Shopwhyke Garden Centre on Tangmere Road, Chichester.
