BO PEEP HILL CLIMB: Is at Alciston on Sunday. Volunteers are sought to assist on the Chailey Heritage Foundation fundraising stand and with bucket collections from 8.30am to 5pm at this classic car hill climb. For more information visit http://www.bopeepdriversclub.com/ or email [email protected].

BLUEBELL RAILWAY: As part of the Bluebell Railway’s contribution to the 175th anniversary of Haywards Heath Station the first of two Bluebell Railway Terriers left Sheffield Park on August 26 to be displayed at Cuckfield Museum. The museum has a display of numerous London, Brighton and South Coast Railway items and the Bluebell Railway Museum has loaned a number of exhibits, including the model of Terrier Merton. The display runs until December 19. In addition as part of the Haywards Heath 175th celebrations Stepney will leave Sheffield Park later to be displayed at Haywards Heath station on September 18. LUNCH CLUB: At St Peter’s Church is held monthly at 12.30pm in the church on Chailey Green and the next lunch club is on Thursday. All are welcome to go along for a delicious meal, meet new people and chat and relax. The food is all freshly prepared and home-cooked with a main course, choice of puddings and tea/coffee for £5 per person. There is easy access and disabled toilet facilities. JUMBLE SALE: In aid of Chailey Bonfire Society will be at the village hall on Saturday September 24 at 11am. Donations of jumble will be much appreciated; please take jumble donations to the hall from 9am. Alternatively to arrange collection call Diane on 01273 401900. Also if you are able to assist the Bonfire Society with manning the stalls on the day please contact Diane. This is a great way to meet other villagers and bonfire members.

MUSEUM: The Windmill and Rural Life Museum will be open on Sunday September 24 from 3pm to 5pm. Entry is £1 for adults and 50pence for children aged 10 to 16 years. For more information call John Smith on 01825 723519.

DINNER DANCE: In support of Chailey Heritage Enterprise Centre (CHEC) takes place at Newick Village Hall on Saturday September 24 at 7.30pm. CHEC is a charity which supports severely handicapped young adults by giving them the opportunity to work. There is a remarkable team of individuals who work there and the work they create is fabulous. For more details visit http://www.chec.co.uk/. The purpose of the Dinner Dance is twofold; the first is to eat great food, drink fine wine and enjoy live music, with the Resevoir Frogs, surrounded by your friends and the second is to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity. QUIZ NIGHT: In aid of Chailey Heritage Foundation, takes place at the Foundation on Saturday October 8. Teams of up to 10 people accepted. Tickets are £10, including food, and are available from [email protected].

FIND OUT MORE DAY: There is a Find Out More Day on Sunday October 9 and anyone, skilled or unskilled, who can offer a day a month or more to the Bluebell Railway are invited to find out more about volunteering in our various departments. Book your place on an orientation tour, and get more information about the opportunities at the Railway, by phoning 01825 720800 or emailing [email protected].

GIANTS OF STEAM: Are at the Bluebell Railway on Friday October 28 to Sunday October 30. There will be an intensive train service throughout the weekend between Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes, Kingscote and East Grinstead. TRACK TREK 2016: This year is the Bluebell Railways fourth Track Trek event which takes place on November 12. To register for the Track Trek the sponsorship form can be downloaded at http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/funding/fftf/ and it provides a tear-off registration form. Plus you can create your own fundraising page on BT MyDonate or an Organised Event fundraising page on JustGiving.
