For more information please visit www.chf.org.uk/leadvolunteers or email [email protected].

GOOD AND BAD NEWS: For Chailey Bonfire Society. The good news this year is the 50th Anniversary of Chailey Bonfire Society and on Saturday November 12 there will be an extra special celebration and what the society hope will be their best display ever. Please put the date in your diary now so as not to miss it. Also, please note that the society’s AGM will be held at the Reading Room on Wednesday August 31 at 8pm and the Christmas Party for older residents will be on Saturday December 3 at the village hall. The not so good, in fact really bad news is that regrettably the organising committee continues to diminish and following this year’s bonfire celebrations and the Christmas Party most of the committee are standing down which will make it impossible to continue. The Chair (Chris Farrow) says in Chailey News ‘I’ve never been one to give in but if bonfire in Chailey is to continue we need a completely fresh start and I’m prepared to approach this with a blank canvas just as long as we maintain the basic principles set by our Founders in 1966 with a safe evening and display focused for children’. All roles need replacing; secretary, treasurer, fundraisers and of course those that plan, build and deliver the display. If you are prepared to do something to help this Society to continue please give Chris a call on 07867 822492 or email him at [email protected]. The hard fact is that without new help there will be no bonfire celebrations in Chailey in 2017. The decision to continue, or not, is in your hands.
