Chailey student lands West End lead role

A student at Chailey School has landed a lead role in a West End production.

Oscar Morgan will play ‘Kester’ in the forthcoming production of The Other School by the National Youth Music Theatre at St James’ Theatre.

The Year 9 youngster won the coveted part on the London stage after a series of nationwide auditions.

Oscar has rapidly made a name for himself as a performer, both in school productions and local amateur dramatics.

The musical, which opens in August, tells the story of what happens to a brother and sister who end up at the ‘The Other School’ after getting off at the wrong bus stop.

It proves to be an establishment where the teachers are dead keen on keeping pupils in education.

The production is being billed as a high energy combination of The Rocky Horror Show, High School Musical and The Nightmare Before Christmas all rolled into one with the intrepid Kester rescuing his sister from a grisly fate.

One of Oscar’s most recent appearances was in Chailey School’s Christmas production of The Wind in the Willows, where he proved outstanding in the role of Toad of Toad Hall.
