Chairman's festive message hits small screen

The first-ever video Christmas message from West Sussex County Council's chairman to the people of the county has been put together.

The televised message from chairman Cllr Mark Dunn shows a video newsreel of achievements in West Sussex during 2008 '“ and those claimed to be yet to come.

Cllr Dunn, who took over the chairmanship from Margaret Johnson this year, tells viewers he feels privileged to be the first chairman televised on the internet, linking people in West Sussex with those who may have moved away.

The year has been tough on the economy, and especially West Sussex, he says. However it has also been a year of achievement in many ways.

Children are featured extensively in the Christmas and new year film.

It looks at the Engauge Project, helping primary schools turn sustainability into a reality, and shows what happens inside the growing network of children and family centres.
