The funds that are being given out include £1,560 to charity Horsham Salvation Army, £320 to housing association Saxon Weald, £480 to Age UK Horsham District and a small donation to local charity Horsham Matters.

Six individuals have been nominated by Age UK Horsham District to be in need of financial assistance this Christmas and will receive funds from the Trust, which was founded by the Chairman of Horsham District Council, Cllr Philip Circus.

At Saxon Weald, four tenants with dependents have been nominated as they have struggled financially throughout the year for various reasons beyond their control.

The Horsham Salvation Army has nominated 104 children to receive toy boxes this Christmas from outreach co-ordinators across the Horsham district.

This will greatly benefit their families who are struggling to buy Christmas presents this year.

A cheque presentation by Cllr Philip Circus, Chairman of Horsham District Council and representative of the Trustees of the Fund, was made to the Horsham Salvation Army for £1,560 on Monday 16 December 2013 at The Capitol to Majors Ann and Iain Stewart, who are looking after the distribution to those children.

The Chairman’s Trust is a fund for people in need in the District who fall outside existing statutory and charitable provision.

These four sums are the first distributed from the Chairman’s Fund and the Trustees wanted to issue them at Christmas.

We would ask the public to support The Chairman’s Trust and there will be fund raising events continuing in 2014.
