Chance for youngsingers to shine

Young singers across East Sussex are being given a unique opportunity to hone their talent at a summer singing school.

he summer school, organised by East Sussex Music and Glyndebourne, will give 13 to 18-year-olds the chance to work with a professional conductor.

Lee Reynolds, music director of Glyndebourne Youth Opera, will be leading the course, which runs in Lewes from Monday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 15 and focuses on signing as part of a choir.

The course will culminate in a concert performance.

Lee Reynolds grew up and still lives in Lewes. He is a conductor and orchestrator who has conducted at the Albert Hall, the Barbican and the Berlin Philharmonie. He also led the London Symphony Youth Orchestra choirs from 2010 until 2013.

He said: “This course is for you whether you have sung in choirs all your life or are completely new to the experience of group singing. It will equip you with a musical toolbox stuffed full of ideas and techniques, and will be a lot of fun along the way.”

The summer school is open to anyone who loves singing, regardless of their background or where they live. The venue is five minutes from the train station and 10 minutes from the bus station in Lewes.
