Chance to expore historic wreck

The Shipwreck Museum begins its season of exploration of the local foreshore with a tour at 7.15pm.

The tours are led by a knowledgeable team from the Museum who will transport you back to prehistoric times with a glimpse as to what the coastline might have looked like 138 million years ago.

Find out also how the area may have appeared at the end of the last ice age 11,000 years ago and see for yourself a perfectly preserved Bronze Age forest dating back some 4,000 years. You might even find acorns and hazel nuts from that far-distant age.

Finally, explore the wreck of the Amsterdam, the finest preserved Dutch East Indiaman in the world, still with its cargo on board.

Very few of these coastal tours can take place in a year as they are dependent on tide levels, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to find out more about our fascinating coastal heritage.
