Chance to have asay on Rye’s futureat public meeting

The meeting takes place at Tilling Green Community Centre on Tuesday January 28 at 7pm.

It will look at how the Plan process will affect future housing, work and business, community issues, transport and the environment

All those who live, work or study in Rye, or represent an organisation based in Rye are welcome to attend.

Anthony Kimber, vice chairman of the Rye Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group said: “The government explains that under the Localism Act, neighbourhood planning is a new way for communities to decide the future of the places where they live and work.

“They will be able to: choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built; have their say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided.

“This group has reached a stage where it is consulting widely and considering emerging issues and options to put the community for key sites around Rye.

“One such site is the former Tilling Green School site, which many see as needing careful planning to meet community wishes.”

He added: “This important public meeting will provide another valuable opportunity for the public to inject ideas and shape the plan.

“Although we will be considering all areas of Rye, this meeting will be focus on developments in the west of Rye.

“ If you want to have your say then do come along.”

Rye Mayor Cllr Shaun Rogers, who chairs the Steering Group, says that this will be another event at which citizens of Rye can have their say and influence the future development of the town and its outskirts.
